Everyone holds on to one memory of love, but do we actually remember this love in its entirety? A woman meets a man. They fall in love, fight, break up and reunite. Every moment is saved in both their memories and re-enacted in every chapter of their love story. However each person recalls different details, which re-emerge in different versions due to time and lapses of memory. Valerio Mieli’s second feature, Ricordi?, reconstructs the love of a woman and a man from their own perspectives over the course of several years. Nevertheless, love is not perceived in an objective way. Each stage of love is re-enacted through each of their memories that store the consciousness, senses and emotions they experience. And even these memories re-emerge in different features that change through subjective time, and thus makes it difficult to determine what an objective reality is. The film is a bold exploration of the true nature of memory, based on time and existence. (Jin Park)
