"How surprising is the fact that my existence can be a part of somebody else′s happiness?" This is director Kore-Eda Hirokazu′s question to the audience in this story about ′reminiscence′ and ′happiness′, even as it deals wtih the world of death. We see the happiest moments of the dead in "Limbo," the intermediate world between life and the world beyond, through the characters Mochizuki, a staff at Limbo, septuagenarian Watanabe who did not know Mochizuki when he was "alive," and Kyoko, who was Watanabe′s wife. Watanabe reminds Mochizuki of the memories with Kyoko of 40 years ago. Mochizuki recollects how Kyoko Cherished him in her heart but he realizes that his happiest moments are the ones that he has shared with the Limbo staff. Upon leaving the theaters, the audience might ask themselves the question "When was my happiest moment of my life?" Kore-Eda Hirokazu will probably keep making films even after he has departed for the world beyond. (Kim Ji-Seok)
