Born in Jakarta, he graduated from Jakarta Institute of Art, with a film directing major. His short film Lembusura (2014) was selected in competition for Berlin International Film Festival 2015. Prenjak / In The Year of Monkey (2016) won best short film in Semaine de la Critique, Cannes 2016.
