Graduated from Hallym University′s Department of Broadcasting and Communications, majored in Advanced Course for Directing at Dong-Ah Institute of Media and Arts, and at Dongguk University′s Graduate School of Media Studies. He directed short stories such as Rock, Paper, Scissors (2008), 88, Generations (2009). He directed his feature debut film A Fish (2011) in 3D, won the Citizen Critics′ Award at the Busan International Film Festival, and the Special Press Award at the Vancouver Film Festival, and was invited to the Rotterdam Film Festival. In 2014, he founded the NONG BU Film Company and produced and directed his second feature film, Alone (2015), won the Citizen Critics′ Award and the Actor of the Year at the Busan International Film Festival. He also won the Jury Prize at the Seoul Independent Film Festival, and was invited to the Rotterdam Film Festival.
