Dema, a demure seventeen-year-old girl, works at a butcher shop in the capital city of Thimphu in Bhutan. Nothing seems to happen in this quiet city, where time seems to have stood still. Dema experiences the world through the occasional visits of passersby and customers. (PARK Sungho)

Kelzang Dorjee is an independent filmmaker from Bhutan. He debuted with the short film The Little Rockstar (2011) and introduced his second short film, A Song of Silence (2016), at the 2018 Locarno Film Festival. why is the sky dark at night? (2021) is his third short film.
