Fei lives with his boyfriend Xiaolai, earning money from prostitution to support his family in the countryside. One day, when a client violently rapes Fei, Xiaolai beats up the rapist. However, the rapist’s men come to seek revenge on Xiaolai, and Fei runs away, leaving Xiaolai behind. Five years later, Fei is in another city, working as a popular hustler. The relationship between Fei and his childhood friend Long, who moved to the city without any plans, resembles Fei and Xiaolai’s relationship. Focusing on Fei’s love story, Moneyboys shows the economic and social conflicts experienced by young men who migrate to the city, as well as the duality of a conservative community that accepts financial support from them but denies their identity. Ko Chen-tung, who returns to the screen after a long hiatus, takes on the role of Fei. Moneyboys was invited to the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival. (PARK Sun Young)
