Program Note

Junyeong works part-time at a pub while also making a documentary about laid-off workers. She is losing her confidence, wondering if she is making a film that no one will see, let alone change the world. The simple, unadorned plot amplifies its relatability in this film about film. (KANG Sowon)

JUNG Bit-areum

Jung Bit-areum majored in political science and international relations in college before studying filmmaking at the Korea National University of Arts. Her first short The Anniversary (2019) was invited to the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, and her second short Running by the Riverside (2022) was invited to the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival. She has also directed A Nail Eating Rat (2023).
