Program Note
A young man and a woman are poor and somewhat reserved, but they love each other sincerely. The man dreams of becoming a director, but in reality, he is only a part-time weding cameraman. The woman wanders from one job to another to make a living. One day the woman is swindled and falls into debt. The man decides to sell his dear camcorder. The whole crew members consist of five people including main actor and actress. My Generation is an ultra-low-budget, black and white, digital film. The director carefully observes the couple′s every movement and expression of anxiety and fatigue. He appeals strongly to the viewers with the carefully set-up events that drive the couple into dire straits. The idea of using the camcorder clips as an introspection tool of the film medium is creative. The acting of the amateur actor and actress is splendid. The film is an anthropologic examination of the ugly and miserable means of survival in the outskirts of Seoul.
