Miguel GOMES (Lisbon, 1972) is a Portuguese film director who has presented and been awarded at renowned international film festivals ever since his first feature.
The Face You Deserve (2004). His next features Our Beloved Month of August (2008) was invited to Cannes′ Director′s Fortnight, and Tabu (2012) was awarded the Silver Bear and the FIPRESCI Award. This was followed up by Arabian Nights trilogy (2015), which was invited to the Cannes′ Directors′ Fortnight, and The Tsugua Diaries (2021), co-directed with Maureen Fazendeiro and invited to Cannes′ Directors′ Fortnight, all achieving international success. This year, his 6th feature Grand Tour premiered at the Cannes Film Festival’s Competition section and won the Best Director Award.
Gomes is currently working on two projects - Savagery, based on a book by Brazilian author Euclides da Cunha, and Cantiga, based on a graphic novel by French illustrator Blexbolex.
