Community BIFF
Community BIFF is the community-led cultural celebration in charge of the festivity of the Busan International Film Festival. Community BIFF takes place in Nampo-dong, which was the heart of the festival for 15 years since the Busan International Film Festival began in 1996, until the dedicated Busan Cinema Center was constructed. Community BIFF reinterprets the glory and nostalgia of the early days of the festival, when it took its first steps of becoming a global festival and when filmmakers and citizens would mingle together freely. Since 2018, Community BIFF has been striving to be a fun and engaging festival component that embodies the four core values of “good” in Busan’s slogan “Busan Is Good”: Global, Open, Original, and Dynamic.
Marking its 7th anniversary, the theme for Community BIFF 2024 is “Future.” Collaborating with various universities, institutions, and organizations including the Busan Cultural Foundation, Federation of Busan Science and Technology, Directors Guild of Korea, and Sangji Environment & Architects Inc. which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and curating diverse content from SF films and K-content to AI and new media, Community BIFF aspires to breathe along the present and also find creative pathways to navigate the future.

Events
‘The Night Before BIFF’ will mark the beginning of the 29th BIFF and Community BIFF. Hereon many events will take place including free outdoor screenings at BIFF Square, Citizen Film Festival 'Nampo Finale' to decorate Community Beef's Last Night, a citizen video production experience where anyone can challenge themselves to be directors and actors, and an experience booth to make craft props of movies, organized along with youth communities in Busan.
