Anna KARINA
Anna Karina was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, and was a student of painting and dance. She moved to Paris and became worldly renowned as a film actress, notably starring in Jean-Luc Godard’s Pierrot Le Fou, Alphaville, and Bande à part/ among dozens of others. She is also a published novelist. The last time Karina directed a film was in 1973 with Living Together.
Samira MAKHMALBAF
Born in Tehran,1980. Samira Makhmalbaf started acting in her father’s film The Cyclist when she was eight years old. From 1994 to 1997, she attended film classes at Makhmalbaf Film School. At seventeen, after two videos, Desert and Art School, she started making her first feature film The Apple, which was invited to ‘Un certain Regard’ section of Cannes 1998. Her films Blackboards and At Five in the Afternoon were invited to the official competition section of Cannes and won the Jury Prize.
Santosh SIVAN
Santosh Sivan graduated from the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India. He started his career as a cinematographer, and became an outstanding director by working on about 90 films. He won his first National Award for The Story of Tiblu in 1988. Terrorist and Malli won international awards for several times, and Nine Emotions and Before the Rains was screened at the PIFF.
LEE Hwa-si
Lee Hwa-si was picked up by director Kim Ki-young when she was a Dankook University student. Beginning her career as an actress with Kim Ki-young’s Ban Geum-ryun, she continued acting in his films such as Ieoh Island, Transgression and A Woman After a Killer Butterfly. She was the legendary actress of the 1970’s Korea. She recently has retuned to acting with Kim Gina’s Never Forever.
Karl BAUMGARTNER
Karl Baumgartner was born in 1949 in Brunico, Southern Tirol, Italy. Starting from a film critic, he founded Pandora Film together with Reinhard Brundig in 1981. He is a representative art cinema producer, and co-produced Crna Macka, beli macor of Emir Kusturica, Pola X of Leos Carax, Monsoon Wedding of Mira Nair and Spring Summer Fall Winter and Spring of Kim Ki-duk. He won Kunst-und Kulturstiftung der Sparkasse Bremen award for the first time as a producer in 2003.
AHN Jung-sook
Graduated from the German Literature at Seoul National University, Ahn Jung-sook began her career as a journalist at Seoul Economic Daily. She worked as the director for Korean Film Council for three years from 2005 to 2008. She is currently serving as a board member at many film festivals and cultural events.
Jean-Pierre REHM
Jean-Pierre Rehm writes as an art and film critic in many reviews, catalogues and books. He belongs to the editorial board of Les Cahiers du Cinéma. He also regularly curates contemporary art shows in France and abroad, and is at the head of the International Documentary Film Festival of Marseille(FID Marseille) for six years.
ZHANG Xian-min
Born in FEMIS, France, Xian-min Zhang, professor at Beijing Film Academy, is the most prolific writer and a producer for Chinese independent film. He is the juror in Taipei Film Festival and Hong Kong Film Festival, and the artistic director of China Independent Film Festival.
KIM JHO Gwangsoo
Beginning with Happy End (1999), he produced 10 films including Jealousy Is My Middle Name (2002), No Regret (2006), Milky Way Liberation Front (2007), and directed short film Boy Meets Boy in this year. Kim Jho Gwang-soo, head of Generation Blue Films, is also teaching at Dongguk University.
Roger GONIN
Festival director Roger Gonin has worked for one of the main short film festivals in the world since its 1979 inception - the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival. Roger Gonin, whose dream is to one day establish a museum dedicated to magic lanterns and stereoscopic viewers, has directed two shorts and worked on several others.
Calida UABUMRUNGJIT
Calida Uabumrungjit has supported independent film through Thai Short Film and Video Festival which she served as Festival Director since 1997. She also organized many workshop and screenings for young people. Currently she is working as the Project Director of Thai Film Foundation.
