The first blockbuster war movie in China. One of the most popular director in China, FENG Xiaogang attempts to pioneer new genre in Chinese commercial films through Assembly. In the winter of 1948, the Battle of Huai-Hai, the most brutal battle in Chinese history, began as the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and the Nationalist Army (KMT) encountered in Huai-Hai and Bengbu prepared to die. Captain Guzidi, his 46 soldiers and 9 regiments of the Liberation Army have an order to hamper the advance of the enemy. Under the situation like this, Guzidi and his men hold their position because their commander promised to give them an ‘Assembly Call’ (call for retreat). However, when all other units are withdrawn, Guzidi doubts himself that he might not have heard the Assembly Call and fears his men might die for his mistake. In the end, Guzidi survives alone and 46 of his men were reported missing for not being identified. Guzidi departs on a long journey to recover their honor. VFX team of TaeGukGi: Brotherhood of War, a Korean blockbuster war movie, contributed to the magnificent battle scenes with superior technology and general technical quality of the film. The film is not only a war movie but also a human drama that searches human values that do not fade in brutality of the war.
