Seven-year-old Ezra is kidnapped by rebel forces on his way to school on morning and transformed into a soldier. Years later, he is among the witnesses at a Truth and Reconciliation Commission hearing investigating a brutal assault on his home village. When his sister, Onitcha, is also called as a witness, the corruption, denial, and raw emotions surrounding the event turn the hearing into a trial.
