Program Note
Higanjima is a secluded island where vampires are lusting for human blood. Once you step on the island, you can never return. One day, Akira, a high school student, is told that his missing brother was seen on Higanjima. Akira and his friends recklessly enter the island to look for him, taken by shady beautiful lady, Rei. Soon after, they are engaged in a literally bloody battle with the vampires, isolated from the outer world. They should escape from the den of vampires for their lives! Higanjima is based on Matsumoto Koji′s Japanese popular comic of the same title. It is a Japanese film directed by Korean director, Kim Taekyun. A colorful mise-en-scene, brutal and quick action, comic book-like characters make this film like a fairy tale for the adults. It is premiered in PIFF meeting the needs of Matsumoto Koji′s long time fans. (PAK Dosin)
