MC Chatrichalerm Yukol succeeded in recapturing the great epic story of Phra Suriyothai of the Ayothaya Kingdom. This film, which took seven years to complete, is an unprecedented masterpiece of our time. Yukol manages to emphasize his viewpoint on women while successfully and accurately capturing the historical event. Yukol depicts a woman who succeeds through meticulous preparation. While her husband who is the King is in battle, Tao Sri Sudachan enjoys the company of her lover. She ultimately poisons her King husband and sits her lover on the throne. On the contrary, Suriyothai is a wise woman with patience and intellect, a fearless warrior not afraid of death. She devises an elaborate scheme and patiently waits for the right opportunity to sit her husband on the throne.Although the running time is over three hours, this film manages to keep the audience captivated with the compelling story line and great reconstruction of history. Factors such as the power struggle and the plot in the Royal Court; the love and sacrifice of Suriyothai; the reconstruction of the 16th Century Ayothaya Kingdom; and art direction, costumes, props, etc. captivate the attention of the audience.
