Gao Ye, who has lost his entire family’s fortune to gambling, rejoins society after several years in prison. Shortly after being released, he meets Momo, a prostitute who sympathizes with the difficulties he has faced. Over the course of a night, the two spend a lot of time together, gambling and putting their lives at risk by getting tangled up with a criminal organization. Eventually, Gao Ye is reunited with his daughter. But she’s also in danger and to save her he decides to take the fall for a murder, a crime which sends him back to prison for eight years. Upon his release, he’s greeted by his daughter who tells him that Momo has died. He also learns the reason why Momo befriended him in the first place. Hearing of Momo’s love, Gao Ye remembers their last kiss they shared before sunrise on that fateful night and breaks down crying. One Night Only is a journey of hope, where two neglected souls find true love. The film is also the directing debut of popular Taiwanese actor Matt Wu. (KANG Naeyoung)

Known best as an actor, Taiwan native Matt Wu made a name for himself on Taiwanese TV in Boy and Girl (2011) and Once upon a Love (2012) and in films such as Taipei 24H (2009), Reign of Assassins (2010) and Sweet Alibis (2014). his first directorial debut Stairway was screened at BIFF 2014.
