Stranded after a tragic plane crash, two strangers must forge a connection to survive the extreme elements of a remote snow-covered mountain. The Mountain Between Us is about the journey of a man and a woman who are struggling to survive in the wild. The film was directed by an awardee of Un Certain Regard Hany Abu-Assad, who is renowned for his internationally acclaimed dramas Paradise Now and Omar. The film focuses more on the inner conflict of each character, played by Academy Award-winner Kate Winslet and Golden Globe-winner Idris Elba, than their adventurous journey itself. Under Abu- Assad’s direction, Winslet and Elba deliver superb performances, and that is what makes this film a great romantic adventure.
