During their escape from Syria, Aryan and his father are separated and Aryan is held at a refugee camp. Dr. Stern, who takes bribes to smuggle people out of the camp, finds out that Aryan has powers of levitation. He runs away with Aryan planning to make money off his powers, and Aryan follows him, believing the lie that he will help find his father. Kornél Mundruczó won the Un Certain Regard Prize at the Cannes Film Festival with White God in 2014 and returns with Jupiter’s Moon, which is also full of his unique imagination and political radicalism. Various themes such as the issue of refugees which brought much debate in Europe, Hungary’s response to it, and religious topics such as miracles and salvation from social corruption are strewn into the diverse styles of filmic genres including thriller, Sci-Fi, and action. The image of Aryan hovering above the chaos of the city and looking down akin to God bemoaning the conflicts within human society.
