Having been offered the job of transporting a truck full of relief supplies to the war zone in Ukraine, Rokas and his girlfriend Inga start off in a journey. After many adventures, they finally meet their Polish contact, Andrei, and spend the night in a heated debate about the war with a group of humanitarians. They must continue on their road to deliver the relief supplies, though, and on this dangerous journey they finally come face-to-face with a situation more horrible than they could have ever imagined. Lithuanian film giant Sharunas Bartas has focused on image more than narrative in the past, but in this film he gives the story more weight. Still, rather than letting the drama experience of Rokas and Inga increasingly becoming inhuman in face of war be the drawing force of the film, he focuses on the different reactions and psychology in face of war through the characters fragmented conversations and close-ups. The innocent face Rokas maintains throughout the story as an outsider certainly magnifies the fear at the end of the film. (Jin PARK)
