This is a documentary about the film life of Kim Dong-ho, who served as the Festival Director from the first to the fifteenth edition of the Busan International Film Festival(BIFF) and was a key member in shaping the festival into what it is today. At an age when most civil servants would consider retirement, Kim Dong-ho took on the role of BIFF’s Director, demonstrating an endless passion for Korean cinema, unique charisma, and unimaginable energy. His efforts helped promote Korean cinema to the world and made him a representative figure of the Korean film industry. In addition, the documentary captures his various film activities as a director and actor, and by showing him as a person as well, it reveals the many faces of him. Featuring appearances by renowned directors representing Korean cinema, such as Im Kwon-taek, Lee Jang-ho, Lee Chang-dong, and Chung Ji-young, as well as Kore-eda Hirokazu, and actors like Park Joong-hoon and Zo In-sung, with narration by actress Ye Ji-won, this documentary presents a comprehensive portrait of Kim Dong-ho. Even at the age of 87 this year, this “young man of cinema” continues to walk steadily through the forest of cinema. (JO Ji-hoon)
